Ralphie is such a love and for a little guy, he has a big personality. He's easy going, curious, easy to pick-up/hold, was very good during his nail trim and energetic. Ralphie enjoy's being petted when he's in the mood for it. He's more of an independent type of bunny. He'll check in with people, but just for a minute .. there's other more interesting things to explore! In Rabbit Romper Room he loved running around and chewing on wicker items. He should be given plenty of toys to explore. We think Ralphie can handle any type of home ...mellow or active. He's a Dwarf so he's more fragile than most rabbits. Rabbits need time outside of their enclosure to burn off energy and to kick up their feet! Ralphie is young and should have many more years of love and antics to give to his new family.

Buckaroo is a very active bunny. He'll need lots or room to roam and run! He's really a sweet bunny and very easy to pick-up. He'll tolerate being held for short periods of time, but of course, prefers to be on the ground. And, we are betting that he might like a friend. If his new family is interested in that, ask us to help find him one. He is a little hesitant at first to sit for petting but does enjoy it. In Rabbit Romper Room he enjoyed running, stretching and exploring. He wasn't too interested in toys but should still be offered them. Ask to meet this active bunny and you'll see why so many people love having a rabbit be part of their family.

Zuzu is a real charmer. This handsome bunny came to us from the Sacramento SPCA where they had too many rabbits. They got him because his family had a dog that didn't want him in the family! Zuzu lived freely in their backyard. This is not the best type of living for a rabbit unless it's done with great care. Ask us about the pro's/con's of rabbits living indoors or outdoors. His previous family and the volunteers in Sacramento said he enjoyed being petted, combed and overall was an easy going bunny. We agree. In the right home we think Zuzu is really going to blossom and be quite the love.

Sophia has come to MHS looking for a new home. Her previous guardian took very good care of her, as evidenced by her vibrant condition and Rubenesque figure. She would like to find a family willing to offer her the same kindness for the remainder of her potentially very long life - Leopard Geckos can live over 20 years! She will need a large terrarium or wooden enclosure with proper heating, substrate and several hiding places. She should be fed large calcium-dusted crickets and mealworms, about twice a week for now as she has a little bit more body weight than she needs. Looking for a quiet, unassuming, long-term friend? Lynn is very sweet and came to us through a local rescue group. They took in a large group of Hamsters from a Southern CA shelter who received way too many! Like all hamsters she prefers to sleep during the day and party at night! Although she's not cranky if you wake her during the day, she would just prefer you don't. Lady's new family should give her at least one night to settle in before the socializing starts. The easiest way to socialize a Hamster is to put your hand near them, palms up and give them time to sniff and (hopefully) crawl onto it. This could take several days so patience is key. (With hamsters it's always better to go VERY slowly with them. Letting them get used to smells and sounds in a new environment will put them at ease.) Ask to meet Lynn and you'll see why so many people love having a hamster be part of their family!

Cary Grant is just sooo handsome and sophisticated looking. We are sure he'll make many fall in love with his good looks. He's a bit on the shy side so his new family should go nice and slow with him. He's very easy to pick-up and hold. He is a little hesitant at first to sit for petting but does enjoy it. Overall he is very mellow and likes to just hang out. A mellow and orderly house will make Cary feel most comfortable. Spend some time with this gentle boy and you'll see why we have fallen in love with him.

With an adult size of 8-12 inches Red-eared Sliders are large, active aquatic turtles. They are ideally kept in artificial backyard ponds, but can also be housed in very spacious aquariums with special lighting and filtration. With a varied diet and proper care they can live over 20 years. If you are up to the commitment, consider a Slider!

Meet Abbott, this pretty green boy has a song to sing. If you rent, make sure that birds are allowed. This guy likes to sing and talk a lot. You'll want to make sure your neighbors won't mind. Budgies need cages that are square and wide as opposed to tall. Being prey animals they need to have corners to go to if they get scared. If you aren't sure about how to care for Budgies, ask to put them "on hold" while you do some research. Even though this guy is small, he needs a big amount of care and attention. And he is definitely worth it!

Bobby is a very young bird so his new family should be ready to make a big commitment. Budgies can live up to 15 years. Even though he lives in a cage he still needs daily attention. Talking to him is an easy way to remind him that he is loved. If you need help clipping his wings, ask your vet to do it or show you how to. If they aren't clipped regularly, he will fly away if given the chance. Come meet Bobby and see if he sings his way into your heart.

Dobby and his three buddies are sure to make a house happier. They love to sing and talk to each other. Their previous owner thought he got two males and two females from a local pet store. It appears that he got four males, which is good because there are too many Budgies that need homes. Spend some time with these handsome birds. Duke, and his buddy Diglet, are two very sweet boys. Rats are hard to age but we think these two are young. Rats, on average, live to be 2-3 years of age if properly cared for. Duke is the shyer of the two but if socialized daily he should be more outgoing very soon. Both of these boys are very social and to stay that way need to be out of their cage for handling and socializing daily. Ask to meet Duke and Diglet. You'll fall in love with both of them!
