Marin Humane Society rescues “Boo Boo” the Beagle from Kentfield sewer drain

(NOVATO, CALIF., August 15, 2008) — During Wednesday afternoon’s triple digit weather, the Marin Humane Society along with Kentfield Sheriff and Fire Departments successfully rescued Boo Boo the Beagle from a storm drain. While enjoying his favorite morning activity – chasing lizards – the curious adult Beagle/Terrier mix wandered away from home and in his excited state inadvertently slipped down a drain. Unaware of the frightened dog trapped below, a local resident parked her car over the drain. It wasn’t until hours later that a passerby heard what sounded like a dog whimpering, noticed Boo Boo, and called the Marin Humane Society for assistance.

MHS was able to link the dog’s description with a lost dog report from hours earlier and directed the Boo Boo’s frantic guardian to the scene. MHS Sergeant Michelle Rogers worked with the Kentfield Sheriff and Fire Department to locate the owner of the parked car and remove the drain cover to rescue Boo Boo.

“Out came one very tired and dirty, but unharmed dog,” said Rogers. “Boo Boo’s guardian was extremely grateful and we were all very happy to be able to reunite them.”
